Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Over the last few decades, wildfires are becoming a growing threat in many regions of the world, posing significant risks to human life and the environment. Wildfires have increased in occurrence, driven largely by changes in land use patterns, human activity, and climate change. To prevent and mitigate wildfire impacts on people and properties, it is necessary to apply integrated solutions that act on the key driving factors in a concrete and sustainable way from an economic, social, and environmental point of view. Wildfire risk prevention and mitigation measures vary widely between countries and regions around the world. Therefore, it is essential to develop a comprehensive fire management framework, integrating a systematic assessment, planning, and wildfire hazard and risk management, with the aim of mitigating disastrous effects on human and socioecological ecosystems.

In this Special Issue, we invite submissions exploring:

  • Wildfire hazard and vulnerability evaluations;
  • Sustainable fuel management for wildfire risk prevention;
  • Fire-smart solution for wildfire risk prevention and control;
  • Cost-efficiency in risk reduction;
  • Wildfire risk management in wildland–urban interfaces;
  • Sociologic dimension of wildfires;
  • Wildfire policies in fire-prone countries;
  • Wildfire risk awareness and education;
  • New technologies for wildfire prevention and control.

Other related topics are also welcome.
