Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent years, the development of self-powered sensors has emerged as a promising area of research at the intersection of material science, electronics, and sensor technology. Self-powered sensors offer unique advantages by eliminating the need for external power sources, making them ideal for applications where traditional power supplies are impractical or inconvenient. This Special Issue aims to explore the latest advancements in materials and technologies specifically tailored for use in self-powered sensor applications. 

Potential topics include but not limited to:

  • Energy-harvesting materials: Advances in piezoelectric, triboelectric, and photovoltaic materials for energy harvesting in self-powered sensors. Novel approaches in integrating energy conversion materials with sensor components.
  • Flexible and wearable sensors: Flexible and stretchable materials for the integration of self-powered sensors into wearable devices.
  • Nanomaterials and nanotechnology: Use of nanomaterials (e.g., nanoparticles, nanowires) in self-powered sensor design. Use of nanostructured materials for enhancing sensor sensitivity and efficiency.
  • System integration and sensor networks: Integration of self-powered sensors into Internet of Things (IoT) platforms. Wireless communication and networking solutions for self-powered sensor arrays.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
