Topical Collection Information

Dear Colleagues,

Geophysical methods have long been applied effectively in NDT since the 1920s as the electromagnetic eddy current instrument was developed for material thickness measurements. Over the course of about one century of endeavors, the achievements of geophysical methods in NDT have been fruitful and versatile. However, like other research fields, the challenges never end and remain in this field such that more efforts are required to make further progress. This collection calls for all kinds of articles on NDT using geophysical methods. The topics include, but are not limited to, theoretical investigations, algorithm developments, instrument design, field techniques, data processing, modeling, imaging techniques, monitoring, and case studies. In recent decades, this field has attracted various researchers and their expertise ranging from conventional to the state of the art. Conventional methods are the foundation, and we cordially solicit reviews or tutorial articles in this category. To keep technology updated, we would appreciate submissions with any contemporary technique incorporated into geophysical methods which are adaptable for NDT research. Although the collection is mainly aimed at publishing the results of basic and frontier research in this field, opinions (perspectives) are also welcomed. We particularly encourage young scientists/engineers who are currently working on thesis proposals to submit opinions. We believe that their novel ideas will benefit all readers. Conversely, through peer review, these promising young authors will gain invaluable suggestions to improve their thesis proposals.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the collection website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. NDT is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
