Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Introduction

Mathematics is a crucial discipline for all countries, necessary for providing citizens with critical thinking and problem-solving skills for everyday life and adding to the economic and social wellbeing of their country. New developments can be trialled and then disseminated internationally to help teachers and educators enhance their provision.

Aims and Scope of this Special Issue

We are particularly keen to explore new innovations in mathematics teaching and learning that have been tried and tested with a positive impact in the classroom or for homework and self-study.

Mathematics teacher education covers a wide field including initial teacher training and continuing professional development and involving a focus on pedagogy, the syllabus, assessment and initial teacher training in primary, secondary and further education.

Suggested Themes

Within the scope of this Special Issue are the developments in statistics and data science at school and college level that are influencing and changing mathematics provision.

New technology (including AI) can lead to challenges in the methods teachers need to be familiar with and can present innovations in learning for students, schools and parents/ carers; changes in methods of assessment can also be problematic for teachers and students.

We are looking for papers at the cutting edge of research and innovation in mathematics, and we welcome potential contributors to make contact with us to discuss their potential contribution.
