Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The authors present an efficient algorithm for de-interleaving staggered PRI signals in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging, addressing challenges related to PRI jitter, low computational efficiency, and interference between sub-PRIs, resulting in concurrent signal separation with high accuracy. Please find my questions for the authors to improve the quality of the manuscript.

1. Please specify the challenges or limitations encountered in previous staggered signal de-interleaving algorithms that made them unable to accommodate PRI jitter and resulted in low computational efficiency.

2. Could you explain more about the key metrics for assessing its performance in de-interleaving staggered PRI signals from mixed signals?

Reviewer 2 Report

An effective approach for de-interleaving staggered PRI signals is proposed in this research. To begin, an enhanced SSWI approach is proposed to better adaptation to PRI jitter. Furthermore, a threshold condition for the revised SSWI algorithm is devised to reduce interference between the sub-PRIs and the frame period. A matched filter theory-based sequence retrieval approach is suggested to improve the separation accuracy of radar pulse sequences. Finally, staggered sequences are recovered using a combination of matched filter theory and the intrinsic property of staggered sequences. The suggested algorithm's superiority for de-interleaving staggered PRI signals from mixed signals has been proven by simulation studies. The manuscript is clear, relevant to the field, presented well-structured, and scientifically sound. The manuscript’s results are reproducible based on the details given in the methods section. However, all figures with charts could be bigger because couldn’t be read.  Also, I think the paper needs in conclusion to mention more about their future work.

Reviewer 3 Report

The paper is very rigorous both in the state of the art of the research and in the approach to the De-interleaving Staggered PRI Signals and the associated mathematics.

Abstract is not sufficiently clear for the wide audience of the journal. Please modify.

What are the limitations of the proposed approach? Include a paragraph in the discussions section.

Although the manuscript is well written and structured, there are some mistakes which deviate the attention of the reader. A third-party scientific writing revision is suggested.
